This in-person workshop helps singers and voice users develop greater creative freedom by learning to listen to the body as part of the artistic process. Through sensation, movement, sound, improvisation, and play, you will explore habitual patterns of holding, effort, judgment, and restriction to discover new physical and vocal possibilities. The goal is not to produce a "better" voice, but a more available, responsive, expressive, and imaginative one.

❉ Who Is This For?

  • Beginning & intermediate singers looking to build a healthy foundation

  • Seasoned professionals wanting to break through creative plateaus

  • Any voice user looking to deepen their somatic connection

❉ What Will You Begin to Explore?

  • Somatic Experiencing: An introduction to learning how to connect more deeply to your body

  • Sensations vs. Emotions: Noticing the differences between the two and how you might use this awareness in your art

  • Internal vs. External Space: Becoming aware of nuances in how you experience yourself and your environment

  • Constriction vs. Openness: An opportunity to explore how your body reacts when restricted versus when open

❉ The Work

  • Identifying physical & mental blocks and working towards releasing tension and restrictions you might not even realize you are holding

  • Playing with how you might move past performance anxiety, creative blocks, and professional hurdles

❉ The Ultimate Goal

  • Moving from Habit ➔ Awareness ➔ Choice ➔ Play ➔ Greater Expression

  • Expect a space filled with playfulness, curiosity, and creativity where you can begin to unlock a more responsive, authentic, and expressive version of yourself
